ROLLING SUBMISSIONS

INTERESTED IN SUBMITTING TO FRUITBATZ?

WHAT & HOW TO SUBMIT?

We pride ourselves on creating a safe space for honest, emotional, and experimental works that explore themes of queerness, identity, and social otherness. Speaking to the broad range of readers we wish to cultivate, we accept all forms of Poetry, Prose, and Mixed Media Projects (i.e. Comics, Visual Art, and Photography).

Once you are satisfied your submission meets the criteria below, you can send a PDF of your submission to editors@fruitbatzmag.com alongside a brief biography.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES?

  • For POETRY, we ask that you only submit up to three poems, totaling no more than five pages. If one or multiple pieces require non-traditional formatting (i.e. overlaid text, varying script size, etc.) please note that to the editorial team, so that we can work to preserve any and all stylistic choices.

  • For PROSE, we ask that you submit up to one piece with a maximum of 3,500 words. If the piece you are interested in publishing is part of a larger story (i.e. a chapter in an ongoing novel) please note that to the editorial team.

  • For PHOTOGRAPHY and VISUAL ART, we ask for the highest quality versions of the pieces you can provide. This is to ensure the selected pieces look good in both digitally and in print.

  • For COMICS, we are very lenient regarding art style and color; however, we do ask that comics do not exceed than five pages in length. Ideally, comics would be designed for a 8 3/8 x 10 7/8 inch page, with 3/4 inch margins. If your comics makes use of full spreads, please note that to the editorial team.

DO YOU ACCEPT SIMULTANEOUS SUBMISSIONS?

Of course! We understand the hesitation to limit yourself to one magazine or journal per submission cycle. We only ask that you tell us if a piece has been submitted elsewhere, and notify us if a piece is accepted.

If accepted, What's next?

If your work is accepted, we ask you to not publish your the selected piece(s) elsewhere until we've officially published it. Once the accepted work is published either digitally or in print, all rights return to you as the author of your work.
